Just One Day - Gayle Forman

Genre; Romance/Young Adult

When sheltered American good girl Allyson "LuLu" Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

This book for me, is perfect, seriously. A lovely novel of real love, travel, and finding who you truely are. Based on the concept that Allyson and Willem go to paris to spend just one day together, it tells of the day itself, the aftermath and the lasting effects of that one day. I find it is written beautifully that even though there is not "grand gestures" that we expect from love stories, it still touched a raw nerve and made me want to travel, adventure and experience life (although, i am not sure i would dare venture to paris with a stranger) I cannot wait for the sequel and to tackle other Gayle Forman books that hopefully are just as beautiful.

  1. This looks like a fab read :) I'm currently reading A Month at the Shore

  2. I'm not really into romance novels, but your insistence that it needs to be read is making me want to go pick it up! I'll have a look for it next time I pop over to the book shop! xx
