Beastly - Alex Finn. Review

Genre; Y/A, Fantasy, Romance
Release Date; Oct 2007
Synopsis
I am a beast.

A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright--a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.

You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll stay this way forever--ruined--unless I can break the spell.

Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly

Review
I am a huge fan of the original beauty and the beast, so this was a book that i had to read. A retelling of the original but this time based in modern NY. Kyles Kinsbury is the Schools IT guy, all the money, looks and charm, however one day all this turns on him and he is turned into a beast. Follow the story as we see the original novel unfold and how Kyle must find true love before time runs out and he stays a beast forever. I liked this, it was a nice easy read that i flew through, it didn't stray too far from the original story (unlike my fear for cinder and scarlet) . It made it a nice read and for someone who is hooked on disney it was nice to see another version that i could still relate to. The writing style was easy and i love the instant message conversations to break the story up, with a relatively large font as well, it didnt take more than 3 days to read.

Rating; 8/10
