Eleanor and Park - Rainbow Rowell

Genre; Romance, Young Adult
Release Date; February 26th 2013

"Bono met his wife in high school," Park says.
"So did Jerry Lee Lewis," Eleanor answers.
"I’m not kidding," he says.
"You should be," she says, "we’re sixteen."
"What about Romeo and Juliet?"
"Shallow, confused, then dead."
''I love you," Park says.
"Wherefore art thou," Eleanor answers.
"I’m not kidding," he says.
"You should be."

Set over the course of one school year in 1986, ELEANOR AND PARK is the story of two star-crossed misfits – smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love – and just how hard it pulled you under

This was a cute story, it really was, but as i delved further i had some gripes with it. It tells the story of Elenaor & Park, two "outsiders" if you will, who fall in love on the bus. Cute, huh. So, my gripes were that sometimes Eleanor as a charater seemed a snob, and felt sometimes she was above everyone, however if thats how the character was written, it was great. She was awkward, a little bit geeky and clearly struggled with some social situations. I found that one i started reading i didn't want to stop. The chapters were short and told from each characters point of view, i think this helped me read quicker. Once i neared the end, i thought i will have a soak and finish this book, i felt almost angered with the end, to me it felt rushed, esepcially when their relationship had spent such a long time delveloping, i think in keeping with that, the ending should of being as equally well built.
All in all though, i enjoyed this.

Rating 9/10
