Afterburn and Aftershock (Afterburn & Aftershock #1 & 2) by Sylvia Day (*)

Never mix business with pleasure. Never bring politics into the bedroom. In a way I did both when I took Jackson Rutledge as a lover. I can't say I wasn't warned.

Two years later, he was back. Walking into a deal I'd worked hard to close. Under the tutelage of Lei Yeung, one of the sharpest businesswomen in New York, I had picked up a thing or two since Jax walked away. I wasn't the girl he once knew, but he hadn't changed. Unlike the last time we'd drifted into each other's lives, I knew exactly what I was dealing with... and how addictive his touch could be.

The inner circle of glamour, sex, and privilege was Jax's playground--but this time, I knew the rules of the game. In the cutthroat business world, one adage rules all: keep your enemies close and your ex-lovers closer...

Review
So, lets start with the fact Ms Day is one of my favourite authors, so when this was spotted in with the mornings post, lets say i was a tad excited to delve into her writing once more. This did not dissapoint. Gia & Jax had met  years previous, had a fling, Gia wanted more - Jax didnt. So fast foward to the current day, Gia has landed her dream job and is just about to close a huge deal, when a counterdeal comes in and so does Jax...Well lets just say Gia's feelings havent faded. We follow as they try to work through these feelings they both have for each other, what happens as they try to balance work and love?
Sylvia has a way of writing men that make you weak at the knees and fall madly in love with them, even when they are at their worst and been something none of us ladies would accept, you cant help but hold a special place for them in your heart. Shes wonderous at writing true love, passionate relationships. The kind of relationships that will stand the test of time, even if the men tend to run for a while. Gia, is the perfect main leading lady, strong, independent and surrounded by a loving family, that love food - um thats my favourite type of family. These are both short novellas, but are part of the cosmo red hot reads and mills and boon, they are perfect for sitting by a pool (you'll need to cool down!) and spending a few hours reading.
"Two years apart and we're still in love. It's got to be easier when we are together"
I found another book boyfriend in the form of Jax, i wanted to fly through the book to see what happened, but wanted to slow down so i could never finish it. Its turmoil when that happens, but non the less, this was a fantastic read - and im hosting a giveaway on it here; link

  1. I have heard a lot about this author but I never tried her. I'm still not sure if it's for me but well maybe one day. I'm glad you had such a great time.
