♥ Ugly Love - Colleen Hoover ♥

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

♥ Review ♥

This is my first Colleen Hoover experience, and it was a pleasant one. I listened to this on audiobook as i walked to and from work. I had a few gripes but overall enjoyed it all. So ;

We follow Tate and Miles. Tates story is based in the present day, Miles for the majority is based six years earlier up until the very end. Tate, is a nursing student who is moving in with her brother for a few months before she finds her own place. We meet her just as she is moving her things in and meets a drunk man in the hallway adement he has to get into her brothers apartment, after a few frantic phonecalls to her brother, she realises this is her brothers best friend Miles.

When we start to follow Miles' story it starts six years previous as he shows the new girl at school to her new class.  We follow as the pair become friends, we also meet Miles' family and learn briefly about his personal circumstances.

The narrative runs alongside, learning more about each character but in completley different times of their lives. I found it gripping, in parts hear renching and i found myself fully engaged in the book.  Tate, is strong, independent and adament she can settle for just sex with miles - if that is all he is prepared to give her. Miles, doesnt do love, not now - not anymore. Tate, learns she can't cope with just that.

As we learn more about why Miles doesnt love, i start to felt warmer towards him, he did have a reason he wasnt just been stubborn which is how in parts (especially in Tates chapters) how he came across. In parts this was a story about true love, and how it can change you. We learn Miles is very emotive, in parts i thought it was silly but again as we learnt about him, i began to see that is how he is as a character.

So onto the gripes, well the one - the male narrator and the way he pronounced Rachel. It really irked me, it was just grating, and well annoying. Thats the only issue i had.

  1. I didn't love this book (even though I REALLY wanted to), but I'm glad you enjoyed it! You should definitely read Maybe Someday if you enjoyed this one (and all of her other books too, but Maybe Someday is closest to this one and my absolute favorite Hoover book!).
