It’s the stuff dreams are made of – a lottery win so big, it changes everything.
For fifteen years, Lexi and Jake have played the same six numbers with their friends, the Pearsons and the Heathcotes. Over dinner parties, fish & chip suppers and summer barbecues, they’ve discussed the important stuff – the kids, marriages, jobs and houses – and they’ve laughed off their disappointment when they failed to win anything more than a tenner.
But then, one Saturday night, the unthinkable happens. There’s a rift in the group. Someone doesn’t tell the truth. And soon after, six numbers come up which change everything forever.
Lexi and Jake have a ticket worth £18 million. And their friends are determined to claim a share of it.
Sunday Times Number One bestseller Adele Parks returns with a riveting look at the dark side of wealth in this gripping take on friendship, money and betrayal, and good luck gone bad…

Sunday Times Number One bestseller Adele Parks returns with a riveting look at the dark side of wealth in this gripping take on friendship, money and betrayal, and good luck gone bad…
I have been a massive Adele Parks fan for as long as i can remember, like - as soon as i was old enough to buy my own books, i always picked hers (it could of been the shoes on the cover that sold me though!) So, when i was invited on the 50 strong blogger tour for this i was over the moon.
So - where do i even begin, my brain is still slightly fried from this phenomenal book. Lexi and Jake have played the same numbers with the same friends on the lottery for 15 years - what started as a chance for a better life for all these newly tired parents had become a ritual. However, the others don't seem as optimistic and decide actually its time to give up. The week after - their numbers come up. Lexi & Jake have won, and not just a little - its like 17 million, real life changing money.
However - something happens that night and someone isn't telling the truth, the others turn up and try to claim their share of the money, Lexi & Jake are adamant that they resigned from the syndicate. Just my luck is a story of friendship, betrayal and so much more. On top of that we also follow a man named Toma - who has suffered horrific tragedy in his life, in fact the first page discusses just that. This narrative follows him as he strives to get back on his feet after loosing everything.
Just My Luck is an in depth read full of twists and turns, it looks in depths at long standing friendships, betrayals, drama and so much more. I can't even begin to explain the plot in full because like i said - there is just so much to it.
I adored Lexi as a main character, she was kind, caring and considerate and a well rounded individual. You can sense that she knows the importance of the money she is given. I feel like out of everyone she is the sensible one, trying to reign her family in when they get chaotic. I feel like she is almost the calm in the storm. The friends all have such strong personalities too and as we follow the book we discover more about them all and who you can really trust.
Just my luck considers the dark side of money, and really who you can trust. We have all played the if i won the lottery game, but what actually happens - i didn't expect this. I mean, i totally could imagine it but these are things you don't consider. My mind is blown by this book, i felt like the first half i was like huh this is good, yep - its all about claiming money and a bit of shopping then you get to the last probably third and its like bam! Here it comes.
MIND BLOWN, Just My Luck is gripping, thrilling and just slightly over the top in the best kind of way because Adele just writes so well that - i am still struggling with brain fog even now. What i can say is, i thought Lies Lies Lies was her best work but nope, she has gone and topped it with this!
This is surely your summer must read of 2020. So get it now from Amazon here
