The Summer Seekers - Sarah Morgan || Netgalley Review

Kathleen is eighty years old. After a run-in with an intruder, her daughter wants her to move into a residential home. She’s not having any of it. What she craves – needs – is adventure.

Liza is drowning under the daily stress of family life. The last thing she needs is her mother jetting off on a wild holiday, making Liza dream of a solo break of her own.

Martha is having a quarter-life crisis. Unemployed, unloved and uninspired, she just can’t get her life together. But she knows something has to change.

When Martha sees Kathleen’s advert for a driver and companion to take an epic road trip across America, she decides this job might be the answer to her prayers. Travelling with a stranger? No problem. She's not the world's best driver, but it couldn’t be worse than living with her parents again. And anyway, how much trouble can one eighty-year-old woman be?

As these women embark on the journey of a lifetime, they all discover it’s never too late for adventure…

I am a huge fan of Sarah Morgan, ive read most of her books, in fact i have a Sarah Morgan shelf...so of course i was excited to read this! We meet Kathleen, as she herself meets an intruder in her own home, but Kathleen isn't a frail 80 year old and hits the intruder with her bacon frying pan. Liza her daughter comes to visit with visions of sending her mother to a home, after her near miss she really thinks its for the best however, Kathleen has her own plans. She wants adventure.

Martha is having a quarter life crisis, with no job, a divorce and living with her parents she needs to find a way out. Thats when she comes across Kathleens advert for someone to drive her across America as she completes route 66. The only minor issue is that Martha hates driving oh and Liza doesn't think her mum should go.

As all three women set out on their own adventure we follow their journey. This was a truly delightful read. I really enjoyed watching each woman change and become the person they were meant to be. I loved the dynamics between the three and even though Liza was back at home finding herself some peace and quite. She was still very much also part of the roadtrip.

The trip itself was great to read about, Sarah Morgan writes locations so vividly that you really feel like you are there. She writes characters that have such depth and real emotional growth throughout the story. She writes books that just warm the soul and heart. A perfect end of summer read before those winter christmas tales start appearing.
