New Year, New Goals

New Year, New Goals.
Hello, it has been an awful while but today i was ready to sit down and write a post to discuss all things book related and maybe a few other goals for the year ahead.
Those who follow me on twitter will know i have finally got a new laptop so i could get back into the world of books, but i didnt know what to post but this morning i thought the easiest way was to see what i am reading and what i plan on doing so.

Book Goals

  • I have just set my goodreads goal as 50 for the year, 2013 was the year i hit 100 and i was proud of that but since then year in year out i have dropped, last year i aimed for 60 and just scraped in although i forgot to record the last few reads.
  • I need to use goodreads more again this year too, i got lapse in it and noticed a few times i started to reread the same book in error - so by using that i can check in what i have actually read.
  • I would like to work on my netgalley ratio, its really low right now - there is just so many good books so i would like to get a few read and get that improved to improve my approval chances.
  • Audiobooks - i have started these recently, i tried them before and never liked them but having got another trial i decided to try again for those nights where i just cant quite drift off, and i must say i really am enjoying them so i think i will be subscribing to the service.
  • I am quite happy with the genres i read so i am not bothered about trying new things but i would like to post on here other posts alongside books, maybe chats with authors ect.
  • Also - in Novemeber i started to write a book, its only a baby but i would really like to crack back on with that and see where that goes - i love the concept but there is still some working out i need to do but that is on my list.
Health & Wellbeing

  • This year is the year i tackle the big one, i run a marathon.  I took up running about 2 1/2 years ago or something under the couch to 5k with my bestie to loose weight, she long since dropped away but ive gone on from strength to strength, i have done numerous 10ks and 4 half marathons but this year its the big one, already having nearly 2 10k races in the bag already this year my training plan is in full swing.
  • I would like to loose a stone - im hoping by focusing on food for fuel for my body and training it will drop away, i joined weightwatchers 2 years ago, hit goal and maintained for well over a year but ive just crept a few pounds on now.
  • Other than that - i am happy to see what the year throws my way, i just would like to be stronger, fitter and healthier.
Current reads

Snowy rooftops, mulled wine, and a hot single dad. Not the Christmas Saffy wished for… but maybe the one she needs?

Twenty-nine-year-old Saffron Baxter knew her fun holiday plans didn’t stand a chance the moment her sister called to say she was stuck abroad with no hope of being home before Christmas. Saffy would just have to abandon thoughts of wild festive parties in the city and head down to remote Cornwall.

Because every year her sister hosts a huge Christmas meal for all the single parents in her village. And Saffy knows it’d break her heart to let them down.

Arriving as snow starts to fall over the thatched cottages of the little harbour town of Port Breok, she meets Logan – the tall, fair-haired, blue-eyed, devoted single dad who lives over the road, with his adorable daughter Chloe. At first she thinks he might help her make Christmas Day extra-memorable, but he just seems convinced she’ll never manage – that she’s just a party girl who doesn’t care about family, or anyone’s feelings.

Maybe he’s right. After all – she doesn’t want to settle down, she’s only there for a few days… But she’s still determined to do her sister proud with gorgeous decorations, the most beautiful real tree – complete with extra twinkly lights, and delicious mince pies. To make it a Christmas everyone will remember, especially little Chloe. Even if, when the mistletoe comes down, she knows she’ll probably never see Logan again…

& On Audiobook

For fans of THE GIRLFRIEND and THE WIFE BETWEEN US, TOO CLOSE is a twisting tale of friendship and betrayal.

How close is too close?

Connie and Ness met in the park while their children played. As they talked, they realised they were neighbours. Perhaps it was only natural that they and their families would become entirely inseparable.

But when Ness’s marriage ends in a bitter divorce, she is suddenly at Connie’s house all the time. Connie doesn’t have a moment to herself, no time alone with her husband, not a second to chat to her kids.

It’s all too much. Something has to give.

Connie has woken up in a psychiatric hospital. They say she committed a terrible crime but she says she can’t remember a thing

What are you looking for for the year ahead?
