#OWLSreadathon2019 TBR

So, i very rarely do readathons in fact, i think i may of only done one in my whole blogging time! However, when i discovered this one, i just knew it was so me! So much effort has been put into the whole concept by BookRoast including career paths ect i was so into this that i knew i was going to take part; so here are my career plans, OWLS i am going to study and books i plan on reading!

No surprise i plan on seeking to become a hogwarts professor and would love to teach muggle studies so to achieves this, i must achieve 7 OWLS in total, 1 in the subject i would like to teach - muggle studies, 1 in defence against the dark arts and 5 more of my choosing. Here are the books i opted for - i used this also as a chance to clear my TBR and netgalley review pile as well.

1. Muggle Studies - A Contemporary read.
We Were Liars - E. Lockhart

A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.

I have had this on my kindle for the longest time, since all the initial hype, i don't have that many contemporary reads so i had to look on goodreads and this popped up so it has provided me with a chance to get it read.

2. Defence against the dark arts - reducto - starts with r
Redemption - Candice Fox

When former detective Ted Conkaffey is wrongly accused of abducting a teenage girl, he hopes the Queensland town of Crimson Lake will be the perfect place to disappear.
But nowhere is safe from the girl’s devastated father. Dale Bingley has worked out a brutal revenge plan – and if Ted doesn’t help find his daughter’s real abductor, he’ll be the first casualty.
Meanwhile in a nearby roadside hovel, the bodies of two young bartenders lie on the beer-sodden floor. As a homicide investigation unravels, Ted and his unlikely ally private detective Amanda Pharrell are brought in to assist on the case.
While Ted fights to clear his own name, their hunt for the killer will draw them into a violent dance with evil.
Redemption is certainly on the cards – but it may well cost them their lives…
Steeped in tension, REDEMPTION is an absorbing crime thriller from an award-winning writer which will hold you in its grip to the final page.
Initially i really struggled to find a book beginning with R but i looked through all my awaiting feedback on netgalley and spied this, re reading the synopsis it sounds right up my street so i look forward to reading this.

3. Transfiguration - a book with a red cover
Paper Ghosts - Julia Heaberlin
My Sister disappeared.
I know who took her.
Now I've taken him.
----------
Carl Louis Feldman is an old man who once took photographs.
That was before he was tried for murder and acquitted.
Before dementia and his admission to a Texas care facility.
Now his daughter has come to see him, to take him on a trip.
Only she's not his daughter, and, if she has her way, he's not coming back . . .
Because Carl's past has finally caught up with him. The woman driving the car is convinced he's guilty, and that he's killed other young women. Including her sister Rachel.
Now they're driving across Texas, following his photographs, his clues, his crimes. To see if he remembers any of it. To discover what happened to Rachel.
Has Carl truly forgotten what he did or is he just pretending? Perhaps he's guilty of nothing and she's the liar. Either way, in driving him into the Texan badlands she's taking a terrible risk.
For if Carl really is a serial killer, she's alone in the most dangerous place of all . . .
I read the first of Julias book a while ago and really enjoyed it, i requested this and got approved but then never got round to reading it, this sounds brilliant so cannot wait to delve in to this!

4. Charms - An adult book
No Strings - Cara Lockwood
‘I want to worship you.’
With only one night, they have to make it count!
A one-night stand is out of the question. Until good girl Emma Allaire meets tall, dark and drop-dead gorgeous Mr. X through an anonymous hook-up app and her sexiest fantasies come to life. Who is this enigmatic man in her posh hotel room bed? Mystery lover, man of her dreams or liar—will he save her heart or break it forever?

Most books i read are "adult" but i wanted something a bit more, as i could of picked any and this seemed to fit the bill into an adult read.

5. Herbology - A plant on the cover
Love Me, Love Me Not - Katherine Debona
Today isn't the first time I've thought about killing my best friend, but it is the first time I've done something about it.

Since they were teenagers, Jane and Elle had been inseparable.

Until the day that Elle stole the love of Jane's life.

Now everything has changed. Jane wants him back, and with a little help from her horticultural obsession, she may just have found the perfect solution…

A psychological suspense novel tha
t you will not be able to put down. Perfect for fans of Louise Jensen and Clare Boyd
This was the closest i could find and went with a flower/plant haha! Again this is one i forgot about so i really am looking forward to getting through some of these.

6. Ancient Runes - A Retelling
Enchantee - Gita Trelease
Paris in 1789 is a labyrinth of twisted streets, filled with beggars, thieves, revolutionaries—and magicians...

When smallpox kills her parents, Camille Durbonne must find a way to provide for her frail, naive sister while managing her volatile brother. Relying on petty magic—la magie ordinaire—Camille painstakingly transforms scraps of metal into money to buy the food and medicine they need. But when the coins won’t hold their shape and her brother disappears with the family’s savings, Camille must pursue a richer, more dangerous mark: the glittering court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

With dark magic forbidden by her mother, Camille transforms herself into the ‘Baroness de la Fontaine’ and is swept up into life at the Palace of Versailles, where aristocrats both fear and hunger for la magie. There, she gambles at cards, desperate to have enough to keep herself and her sister safe. Yet the longer she stays at court, the more difficult it becomes to reconcile her resentment of the nobles with the enchantments of Versailles. And when she returns to Paris, Camille meets a handsome young balloonist—who dares her to hope that love and liberty may both be possible.

But la magie has its costs. And when Camille loses control of her secrets, the game she's playing turns deadly. Then revolution erupts, and she must choose—love or loyalty, democracy or aristocracy, freedom or magic—before Paris burns…

I am not a 100% what this is a retelling of but it said it was on my goodreads under retelling listings and for some reason i had this to review (i am really not sure why but it ticks the boxes)

7. Potions - A Sequel
The Dare - Carol Wyer
Jane’s daughter is a good girl. What is she hiding?
When thirteen-year-old Savannah Hopkins doesn’t come straight home from school, as she always does, her mother Jane immediately raises the alarm.
Leading the investigation is Detective Natalie Ward whose daughter Leigh is the same age as Savannah. Soon Natalie’s worst fears are confirmed when the teenager’s broken body is found in nearby shrubland.
Evidence points towards a local recluse, but just as the net is closing around him, one of Savannah’s friends, Harriet, is reported missing.
As Natalie delves into the lives of both girls, she soon discovers a sinister video on their phones, daring the girls to disappear from their families for 48 hours.
But Natalie isn’t quick enough for this killer, and she is devastated to find Harriet’s body on a fly tip a day later.
Caught up in the case, she takes her eye off her own daughter and when Leigh goes missing after school she knows she must be in terrible danger. The clock is ticking for Natalie. Can she catch this killer before her little girl becomes the next victim?
This gripping rollercoaster of a read will have you up in the small hours turning the pages. Fans of Angela Marsons, Rachel Caine and Robert Dugoni will love The Dare.
This is the third in the series and i cannot wait to read and review this, i was granted this before it went on netgalley and i was buzzing so now is the time to read it!

So, these are my reading plans for the month of april and i am hoping i can achieve this!

  1. I enjoyed We Were Liars, but haven't read any of the other books on your TBR. Good luck, and hope you manage to pass all your exams!
